A look at your employer benefits, the exchange, doctor care, and quirky rules to adhere to. We will take a deep look into benefit design changes triggered by reform, rates, and products both on and off the exchange. What we can expect and what we need to do to prepare employees, such as notices that must be sent out and W2 reporting requirements. We will examine how costs will be impacted for you, your employees, and what exchanges might look like here in Michigan.
Elite Employers: What are employers in Michigan doing to implement reform? This panel of experts are from companies that are leading the State of Michigan in all best employer practices. These seasoned executives will share their concerns, actions, and obstacles in implementing reform and what we all can learn from their experiences. Best practices, tools, and resources will be shared.
The IRS and the Treasury released proposed regulations containing new guidance in how to comply with the employer mandate. Discussion includes: how to determine when an employer is a “large employer”, how to apply the penalty to controlled groups of employers, how to determine full-time employees, what employee hours are counted to determine full time status, when employers have to comply with plans with non-calendar plan years, and how school districts, unions, and temporary agencies have to comply.
Affordable Care Act Overview: A breakdown of the law and what Michigan’s role is. This session will cover reform implementation and an overview of penalties, credits, and compliance from a business implementation perspective. This session is a basic overview of what needs to be implemented and by when, given the law as it currently stands.

On December 28, 2012, the Internal Revenue Service (the “IRS”) released proposed regulations under Code Section 4980H (54.4980H-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) relating to the employer shared responsibility provisions (the “Employer Mandate”) under Health Care Reform. These regulations follow prior guidance, makes changes, provides clarifications and includes important transition relief. The following has been revised to include these important provisions.
